Falconio

dlllBIO
Falconio started as an idea way back in 2003 as a creative breakaway from other projects (Dollyblitz, Darkest Heartstrings) for main songwriter Luke Laver. However it wasn’t until 2009 that the idea came to fruition with a gig at Brunswick’s Sydney Rd Festival (Melbourne) out the front of a political print shop. Enlisting good friends Liam Kennealy (bass) and Sharon White (drums) from his previous bands, Falconio was born.

The music, for most part, is instrumental melodic sounds, that swirls into violent noise, with influential nods to the post rock genre – think Mogwai or Low among others. Often described as a driving soundtrack, the songs aim to tell a story without words, utilising the feeling of sound to invoke imagery, rather than leading the listener on an already well worn path.

The debut e.p ‘Falconio’, is 5 tracks that were recorded by punk dude Brad Johnston on a shoe string budget in a rehearsal room at Melbourne’s infamous Bakehouse studios in September 2009, and mastered by Josh Grant at Cut-Throat studio.

The departure of drummer Sharon White interstate, has seen the time-keeping role filled by another good friend Andrew ‘Pugs’ Lyngcoln (Sons of Lee Marvin, Harvest Smoke, Lake Palmer), and with support from his indie label Bridge Sounds, Falconio have pressed forward and are now finally releasing the first recorded instalment of the band.

FALCONIO launch their E.P this Friday the 5th August at the Victoria Hotel in Brunswick. Strong supports from the Low Down Dirty Shames, and Jules ans Anna of Kimbo. In true Vic Hotel style, its all free and amazing.
